About this MCC church: Open Table Metropolitan Community Church (Open Table MCC) is an ecumenical progressive Christian church that has a specific outreach to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQI+) families and communities. We hold regular worship services every Sunday. Being an ecumenical church, we welcome each and everyone regardless of their Christian backgrounds and traditions. Everyone is welcome to our community, even people of other religious beliefs or people of non-belief.
Open Table MCC is an active participant in local LGBT and human rights activism. The congregation is a regular attendee in the annual Metro Manila Pride March and other local pride marches, as well as other activism and outreach activities. Among its social justice works, MCC has a strong commitment to marriage equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people. Though no formal relationship, Open Table MCC also regularly participates in some of the ecumenical work of the National Council of Churches in the Philippines, especially on matters relating to sexuality and gender diversity as well as HIV and AIDS.
Our Triple Mission:
To create, maintain and sustain a safe space for all: Our Church community is a safe space for everyone to explore and deepen their faith and spirituality free from judgement and prejudice. Each one are also called to participate in ensuring that the community remains a safe space through flexible and appropriate boundaries that foster love, respect, diversity and common good.
To proclaim God’s radically inclusive love through Jesus Christ: Love is our greatest moral value and resisting exclusion is a primary focus of our ministry. We want to continue to be the conduits of a faith where everyone is included in the family of God, and where all parts of our being are welcomed at God’s table. We are challenged to proclaim God’s inclusive love both in practice and in word. We will joyfully struggle greater inclusion with greater diversity. We can only do this by looking at the life, words and teachings of Jesus Christ.
To participate in God’s wider work of justice in the world: God’s work of justice and love in the world is greater than any one person, organization, church or religion. As individuals and as a church community, God calls us to participate in the wider work of justice by transforming ourselves as we work with others to transform the world.
Open Table MCC remains committed in our sacred calling to be a body of Christ in the world. We are Christian. We are Church. We are love embodied. We are MCC.
